Event Recap:
In April 2024, an abandoned shopping mall in Berlin was transformed into a gritty, electrifying arena for an unforgettable alternative wrestling show. Hosted by the collectives Zentrum Raum and Zeit ist Knapp, the evening defied conventions, blending martial arts, pole dance, punk rock, and techno in a playful, subversive spectacle. Actor Samuel Schneider guided the audience through a series of surreal, high-energy performances, while Katharina Nesterowa’s visionary costume design, choreography, and video production gave the event its edgy, avant-garde aesthetic. The raw intensity was captured by Alexander Göbel’s camera, immortalizing every unexpected twist in an atmosphere thick with adrenaline and rebellion. The show was a daring reimagining of wrestling as both art and anarchy—an unrepeatable night that left Berlin buzzing.
Gaierwally Penthesilea
is an interactive paper-cut miniature puppet play created within the Stage Design Studies at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee. This project reimagines Penthesilea, a figure from Heinrich von Kleist’s tragedy, blending her story with motifs from the Geierwally, a popular alpine legend. Through intricately crafted paper cutouts and miniature puppetry, this play invites viewers to engage with the characters and story in a highly detailed, hands-on way. The project explores themes of heroism, passion, and wilderness, blending traditional storytelling with innovative stage design techniques.
